Hello,
A while ago I bought the Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB headset.
The manual was really short and said it works like 'Plug and Play'. (and I believe it has a small audiocard in the USB-output)
I connected the headset using one of my USB ports and got the first usual pop-ups that the OS had recognised a new USB device.
I then got a standard Wizard from Windows asking me if I wanted to search my PC for the drivers or a CD-ROM.
This was already bothering me, because Plug and Play usually does its software installations automatically.
Since I had no CD-ROM, I took the first option. After a short search the Wizard told me it could not find the neccessary drivers.
I searched in my configurations and only found a 'unable to install' headset.
So I went to the Logitech forums to search if people had experienced the same problems.
I came across the following forum thread: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Internet-Headsets-Phones/Logitech-ClearChat-Comfort-USB/m-p/154158
In short it came to this (The thread starts about Vista, but quickly includes XP as well):
1) Make sure you have a genuine version of Windows with automatic updates installed to make sure you have the latest audio drivers. (Check! Genuine Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3)
2) It should work now.
That's just the basics, so I looked over the thread some more and saw a suggestion of plugging the headset in another PC or laptop to see if it's the software or if something is wrong with the hardware (very unlikely). So I tried the headset on my laptop and it worked like a charm within 5 seconds!
So it's pretty certain now that the drivers are somehow missing on my PC.
Are they downloadable anywhere? Or does anyone know where the drivers should be on my PC, so that I can search them manually?
Or is there any other solution to make this simple headset work?
Thank you in advance,
Milan v E.

P.S. If this is supposed to be in the 'music and sound forums', please put it there and my apologies for the inconvenience.
